The Estadio Santiago Bernabeu home to Real Madrid football club is set to be used as a center for health supply in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Spanish higher sports council and Real Madrid announced that their 81,000 capacity stadium will be used to store health supplies that will be donated to the Spanish health ministry and can easily be distributed to medical professionals.
According to Marca
“Real Madrid, in collaboration with the Higher Sports Council, is launching a project in Madrid for the supply and distribution of strategic health supplies,” in a statement released by the club
“Thanks to close collaboration between these two institutions, the Santiago Bernabeu stadium will become an adapted space.
“We will store donations of health supplies to help fight this pandemic.”
Los Blancos had earlier made a large donation to the Madrid community to help fight the coronavirus.
Spain has suffered the second-highest coronavirus cases in Europe only behind Italy with a death toll of 4,089 and 56,188 confirmed cases in the country as of Thursday 26th, 2020.
