Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder Naby Keita will not participate in the team’s call-up to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League round of 16 first leg tie at Puskás Aréna in Hungary on Tuesday night for lack of a match physical fitness.

Klopp, who revealed this Monday during his pre-match press conference, said Keita has returned to training after recovering from injury.

According to him, the Guinean international will remain in England to continue increasing his sharpness.

Keita, a former RB Leipzig player, has not played for Liverpool since the victory against Crystal Palace last December.

“Naby is no longer injured, but he’s not fit yet,” Klopp was quoted by Liverpool’s official website as saying.

“He was in training yesterday, but it’s not sufficient yet.

“We will be away for two days, and he will be in training; it’s better than flying with us. Of course, Naby would have liked to be there when it’s against Leipzig.”
