Raphael Varane gives update on his Real Madrid future amid Chelsea interest in the £70m rated defender

Real Madrid centre back Raphael Raphael Varane has offered an update on his future at the club with Chelsea showing great interest in the Frenchman.

The 28-year-old’s contract will expire next summer in 2022, and he has yet to reach an agreement for an extension at the Bernabéu.

Varane is reportedly expected to leave Spain as he looks to take on a new challenge.  His future is “in the air.”

The likes of Chelsea,Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly  interested in Varane, who is valued at a fee of in the region of €70 million as per transfmark.

But according to reports Chelsea are ‘ahead in the race’ for the world cup winner.

Thomas Tuchel has put in a ‘request’ for the 28-year-old and Chelsea are ‘willing to pay’ the asking price to bring Varane to west London.

The French International who will face Chelsea in the first leg of the champions League semi-finals has refused to be drawn on his future.

“I am focused on the end of the season,” said Varane. “If I have a message to the fans it’s that my commitment is 100 per cent with the team and I’ll give it my best.

“We have a quite exciting end to the season, beautiful challenges that motivate us a lot. And I’m focused on giving it my best on the field.”
