Liverpool has been on top form by winning the champions league last season and also securing their first premier league title in 30 years this season, finishing 18 points clear at the top.
The reds also won the UEFA Supercup and the FIFA club world cup last season with their outstanding performance.
“Yes, by a big margin, the toughest rival I have faced in my career was the Liverpool team of last year and this sea, on,” Pep told DANZ Spain.
“If u let them dominate you, they will cage you and you don’t come out, when you dominate them, they find running spaces like no one else does.
“They are very fast at going back, they are very strong in terms of strategy. Their players are mentally very strong, it’s the rival I’ve had to think about how to defeat them”.
