Pep Guardiola has disclosed in a press conference after the 5-0 trashing of Burnely at the Etihad stadium, Stating that Sergio Aguero injury may be worse than expected.
Just before the half time of the game, Aguero was caught by Burnley captain, Ben Mee. However, the city manager disclosed the Argentine had complained of knee problems after returning from the lockdown.
Argentina international is set to Undergo a scan on Tuesday to know the degree of the injury. Guardiola has confirmed that 32- year-old will miss a number of games and has also alleged fears of his missing the entire season, including the champions league round of 16 second League clash against Real Madrid in Lisbon.
“It doesn’t look good. We will see tomorrow exactly what he has but it doesn’t look good for the season,” Guardiola said in his virtual post-match press conference.
“He was struggling the last month with a problem in his knee and now he felt something but it doesn’t look good.
“The doctor says it will take time. A few games [out] for sure but maybe tomorrow the tests he will get good news. We will see.”
According to Marca, it has been reported by the strikers father that he will undergo an operation on his left knee on Thursday or Friday of this week.
Aguero is in contention for the premier league golden boot award having scored 16 goals behind Leicester City JamieVardy, Mohammed Salah and Arsenal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 19 and 17 goals each.
