Ozil transfer news: Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is close to joining Fenerbahce in the January transfer window, according to one of the club chiefs.
Ozil has long been linked with a move away from Arsenal, having endured a difficult season at the Emirates Stadium.
The 32-year-old has fallen out of favour with Coach Mikel Arteta after being left out from Arsenal’s squad, from both the premier league and Europa League.
The German International contract is set to expire in the summer and the gunners are eager to let him off the hook, with his huge £350.000 a-week wage.
But Fenerbahce congress member, Murat Zorlu, is “90 percent sure” Ozil will make a move to Turkey in the January transfer window.
Zorlu told Sport Digitale : “A source, who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.
“I would say 90% he will join us in one month.”
If the reports are true, it will come as a big relief for the 2014 world cup winner.
Ozil moved to Arsenal in 2013 from Real Madrid for a then club record £42.5m and has gone on to make 254 appearances and score 44 times.
