Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the blame for the shocking defeat at the hands of Tottenham describes it as the “worst day ” of my managerial career.

Manchester United were thrashed 6-1 at Old Trafford by Tottenham hotspurs as Jose Mourinho retaliated on his former employees.

Solskjaer speaking to the press after the match describing it said ” It’s just a horrible feeling.

“It’s very embarrassing, it hurts all the players. It hurts me as the manager. It’s my worst day ever.

“I’ll hold my hands up, I’m responsible for this. I’ve lost 5-0 with United and we’ve lost 6-1. We’ve lost big results before and always bounced back.

“I promise we’ll do everything we can to turn this around.”

United captain Harry Maguire also echoed those feelings, saying on Instagram: “Today was totally unacceptable, we apologise to the fans, you deserve so much more. There’s no excuses.

“One thing for sure is that we will do everything we can to put this right. We’re all hurting but this is the start of a long season with everything to play for. We must stick together.”

The Red Devils were 2-1 down before Martial was shown a red card for raising his arms at Erik Lamela, who appeared to hit him seconds before.

Solskjaer lambasted Lamela for his actions and insisted if his son did that, ‘I’d put him in the attic for two weeks without food’.

Manchester United will travel to St. James Park as they take on Newcastle United on the 17th of October after the International break.
