Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to raise £60 million by selling four Man United players this summer, including Jesse Lingard.

Red Devils fans will be pleased with the club’s progress in the Premier League as they occupy second place, nine points ahead of fifth-placed West Ham, who they defeated 1-0 on Sunday.

Their decent return to the Premier League so far this season has seen expectations rise at Old Trafford and many fans are hoping Man United can build on this by bringing in some fresh faces in the summer transfer window.

However, Solskjaer recently downplayed the big summer transfers with Man Utd committed to realistic and responsible business this summer.

According to The Metro Solskjaer ‘hopes to raise as much as £60m through player sales this summer after being handed a modest budget of around £80m by his board’.

If he can do that, he would have £140m to spend with Solskjaer looking to sign “a center back, a right-winger, a defensive midfielder and, depending on the future of Edinson Cavani a center forward this summer.”

The Norwegian is “well aware of the need to raise funds through player sales” and the club is now “confident” in being able to obtain its “£20m starting price” for Lingard, who is currently on loan at West Ham.

They will also expect a “small increase” in the £18 million they paid to bring Diogo Dalot to Old Trafford in 2018 with the former Porto youth now a regular starter on loan at AC Milan.

Phil Jones and Juan Mata are the other two players likely to try to sell in the summer, with the former “surplus of requirements.”

Mata is out of contract for the summer, but Manchester United plans to “activate a 12-month extension clause in his contract before hearing offers for the Spaniard.”
