Ogenyi Onazi has rubbished reports of having a fight with former Super Eagles Captain Mikel Obi.
Super Eagles Midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has dismissed claims of having a rift with former teammate John Mikel obi before the later retired from national duties.
Just before the 2018, Russia World cup, there were reports of the former Lazio midfielder having a misunderstanding with Mikel Obi, over an unknown problem leading to a big fight between them.
Mikel and Onazi featured for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2018 World cup , but failed to make it past the group stage of the competition.
Ogenyi who plies his football trade with Denizlispor in the Turkish Super Lig revealed to Brilla Fm that he never at anytime had issues before or after the World Cup with Mikel Obi at the same time acknowledging the role the Former Chelsea man played in the build up to his Career.
“First of all, I can’t have a misunderstanding with John Obi Mikel, because he’s like a mentor to me and it was a privilege for me to play with him on the national team.
“He’s the person who gave us the confidence that we can be who we want to be in Jos,” Onazi told Brila.”
The 27-year-old also disclosed his ambition of a possible return to the national team. He stated that it was a means of distraction from all those who did not mean well for the Super Eagles to Perform well at the 2018 world cup.
