Nwankwo Kanu emerges as the best ever Nigeria player in the Premier League

The English Premier League set up an online poll, celebrating talents from other countries that have featured since the inception of the league.

Former Arsenal and Nigeria International International Nwankwo knanu currently lead in the race for the best Nigerian to have featured in the premier league ahead of Jay-Jay Okocha and Mikel obi.

A total of 42 have featured in the Premier League, more than any other African country, with Efan Ekoku being the first when he represented Norwich City in April 1993.

Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu, won ahead of the quartet of Jay-Jay Okocha, Mikel obi, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and Victor Moses in Online voting by the EPL to determine who is the league-best ever Nigerian.

Kanu Nwankwo has earned 35% of the total number of votes cast ahead of ex-Bolton midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha who finished second with 29%.

He finished second to only Shola Ameobi for appearances among Nigerian players, Kanu has more assists than any of his fellow countrymen, setting up 29 goals in his 273 matches.

The highest-scoring Nigerian in the Premier League Yakubu Aiyegbeni is third with 17%, while former Chelsea midfielder John obi-mikel who lifted the premier league title twice with Chelsea has amassed 16% respectively as of the time of this report.

Another Nigerian on the list Victor Moses gained 4%, he won the 2016/17 premier league title while Antonio Conte’s in charge of Chelsea.
