‘No one else gets close’ – Watch Rio Ferdinand gives a massive and surprise verdict between Liverpool and man city title race after fresh transfer claims

Before the beginning of the new  Premier League season , former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has discussed Liverpool and Manchester City title race.

Rio Ferdinand thinks that although though Liverpool will compete with Man City for the Premier League championship this year, they will ultimately lose to Pep Guardiola’s team.

City has won the Premier League title four times in the last five seasons, while Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have only done so once, in 2020, after a 30-year drought.

At the King Power Stadium in Leicester City, the two teams squared off in the Community Shield. Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez both scored as Liverpool prevailed 3-1.

In an effort to increase their point total from the previous season, Tottenham Hotspur has spent slightly over £90 million, while Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus have been signed by Arsenal and Chelsea, respectively.

Ferdinand, though, still thinks that City and the Reds will be the winners of this season’s title competition, despite the fact that all three clubs have been active in the transfer market.

“Liverpool have got a chance. It’s them two (Liverpool and City). No-one else gets close to them two again I don’t think.

“I still think there are six, eight points between second and third,” he told FootballJOE.

“If someone like Spurs make that gap up it’s a huge, huge, huge gap to make up they’ll be doing something to make that.

“Liverpool and City, I think will be a two-horse race. I think City win it.”
