N’Golo Kante injury gives Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel fresh cause for concern

Chelsea midfield maestro N’Golo Kante  has returned from international duty early having suffered a hamstring issue in France  1-1 draw with Ukraine.


Kante has been largely injury free this season after struggling to stay fit for the rest of the previous campaign, with his recent performance in the Champions League round of 16 win against Atletico Madrid praised as his best performance for several years.

Tuchel is also sweating on the fitness of midfielder Jorginho, who withdrew from the Italy team with a knee injury that was described by his agent as “not serious”, while Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham carried injuries into the break.

Edouard Mendy did not join his Senegal team because he required dental surgery. Three Chelsea players were in action for England against San Marino tonight with Mason Mount starting in midfield and Ben Chilwell and Reece James the starting full backs, while Callum Hudson-Odoi played all 90 minutes for the Under-21 side in their shock defeat to Switzerland.
