Neymar news:Neymar has been ordered by a Spanish court to pay Barcelona £6m after losing a lawsuit against his former club over unpaid bonuses.

Paris Saint Germain and Brazilian forward Neymar is to pay the sum of £6m (€6.7m) fine to his former club Barcelona as announced by the Catalan club on Friday.

Neymar departed for PSG in 2017 from Barcelona for a world-record fee of £200m. However, the 28-year-old took the Spanish team to court over the last terms of his contract earlier in the year, with claims of £40m pounds in entitlement.

A club’s statement read: “Barcelona expresses its satisfaction with the verdict announced today in relation to the lawsuit involving FC Barcelona and the player Neymar Jr regarding the amount of the signing bonus in the final renewal of the player’s contract.

“The ruling has fully dismissed the player’s claim for payment of €43.6 million and has accepted a large part of the defence presented by FC Barcelona, as a result of which the player must return €6.7 million to the club.

“Since the player’s representative is entitled to appeal this decision, the club shall continue to fervently defend its legitimate interests.”

Barcelona have heavily linked with a moved for their former star man, in a bid to bring him back to Nou Camp, with PSG unwilling to sell. But that looks likely to be over now
