Paris Saint-Germain will not be able to count on their star, Neymar, in the first leg of the knockout stages of the Champions League against Barcelona.
The Brazilian was forced out in his team1-0 win over Caen on Wednesday with a thigh problem and his teammate Moise Kean had initially raised hopes that he would be fine to play against his former team.
But, L’Equipe reports that Neymar’s scan results have shown a grade two tear and he is definitely out of the first leg.
The results suggest that Neymar will be out of the game for a month, giving him an outside chance to return in time for the return leg in Paris.
Neymar will be furious about missing the opportunity to return to the Camp Nou since he left Barcelona in 2017 to become the most expensive player in history.
Barcelona have tried to re-sign Neymar twice since his departure and the Brazilian was eager to return to the club in 2018 and 2019.
However, the La Liga giants’ hopes of pairing Neymar with Lionel Messi again appear to have ended due to the financial effect of the coronavirus pandemic.
