Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has taken the burden of the loss while criticizing his players following their 3-0 humiliating defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal came into the game against Aston Villa with confidence following the 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester United in the premier league.

Following a sloppy start, the Gunners would have gone behind but John McGinn had a goal disallowed following a VAR review.

However, Villa quickly got a deserved opener when Bukayo Saka scored an own goal in the 25th minute of play and Ollie Watkins scored twice in the second half to round off the victory for Dean Smith’s side.

Arsenal have now suffered their Fourth loss in Eight matches in the English Premier League and the Spaniard claimed his team failed to play as a team for the first time.

“First of all congratulations to Aston Villa for the way they played and the victory,’ said Arteta.

” After that obviously,y we perform below our standards and I have to say since I was Arsenal manager it was the first time I’ve seen us play and we were not a team.

“I take full responsibility. We did not start the game well enough. We got away with the situation with VAR because of the offside situation but straight after that we lost all the races, all the duels, we were sloppy on the ball, and when we created the chances to score we didn’t even hit the target.

“It’s a really bad combination as the game went on we started to get more open and left more spaces, on the counter-attack we looked very vulnerable.”

The Gunners will travel to Elland road as they take on Leeds United in two weeks after the international break.
