Mikel Arteta gives latest injury updates on Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Martin Odegaard is likely to miss two or more games for Arsenal due to the ankle injury that kept him out of the team for the Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday night.

Arsenal targets Hector Bellerin’s replacement in the summer.

Martin Odegaard was not available in the Gunners 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague at the Emirates Stadium, leaving the Gunners in a tight position as they travel to Czech Republic next Thursday for the second leg of the competition.

The Norwegian presence in the team was vividly missed as Arsenal struggled in the game, creating less chances, missing good chances, and eventually conceding an injury-time equaliser.

Arteta has now given the latest injury updates on Odegaard, he confirmed that Odegaard could even miss the away leg next week, and looks very likely to be out of the Premier League clash with Sheffield United on Sunday.

“We don’t know,’ Arteta told a post-match press conference of Odegaard’s availability.

“He wasn’t able to play today and he will be out, I think, for the next game or two. But we don’t know yet.”

The on-loan Real Madrid playmaker has been impressive since arriving in the winter transfer window, fitting in nicely in north London and scoring in both the Premier League and Europa League.

He may not return until the Premier League meeting with Fulham on 18 April.
