Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday night, with Scott McTominay’s goal in extra time giving them a 1-0 win over West Ham.
The visitors were happy to sit deep and absorb United’s pressure early on, registering just one shot and 30% possession in the first half.
Despite the dominance of the host, the chances were few and far between, with Victor Lindelof approaching with a header. Things continued in the same vein after the break and without either of them being able to break the deadlock.
The game went into extra time. At seven minutes into this additional period, substitute McTominay scored the first and only goal of the game, shooting home a snapshot from inside the area.
United will find out who they will face in the quarter-finals on Thursday night, with Bournemouth being the only other team to have confirmed their place in the next round so far.
