Manchester United will delay making a final decision on Edinson Cavani’s future at the club until he has recovered from his injury.

Cavani joined United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and has impressed in his first season in English football, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances.

The Uruguayan has been a focal point for United’s attack in a season in which Anthony Martial has struggled with United who believe he is happy with his impact on the club.

The 34-year-old signed a one-year contract with the club last September with an option for a second.

According to ESPN United would have to pay the forward close to 2 million euros if he activates the clause, but if they decide not to extend his stay at Old Trafford, a fine will be applied.

Cavani has missed United’s last three games due to a muscle injury with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in hopes of him being available again for the trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

He is also wanted by Boca Juniors, who are ready to offer the forward a route back to South America if United don’t take their option this summer.

However, the player is said to be interested in staying in Manchester, eager to stay in Europe as long as possible.

United are believed to be looking for a new forward this summer with Erling Haaland, who they failed in their attempt to sign before he joined Borussia Dortmund.
