Manchester United set to sign €34m rated Serie A defender in the summer

Manchester United are close to the signing of Fiorentina central defender Nikola Milenkovic according to reports from Italy.


Milenkovic has decided against extending his current deal with the Serie A outfit and is said to be out of contract next summer as reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Serbia International is currently valued at Β£34m for any club that will be interested in landing his signature.


The report also states thatΒ United has initiated talks to sign the 23-year-old but it is unknown if they will meet his full valuation.


Manchester United looks to strengthen their backline despite spending a considerable sum on defensive recruitment in the last few years.

The Red Devils have been linked with several defenders in recent times. The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Jules Kounde and Raphael Varane have all been speculated to be on their Radar.

The current financial meltdown due to the impact of Covid-19 means clubs are not able to carryout major signings and United are not exempted from the financial crisis.

But, Β£34 million might not be far-fetched for the club to comprehend, considering they will be hiring a defender with a record of performing at the top stage.

His young age also works positively in his favor, as he still has at least a decade left in football and could generate a high transfer rate if he is sold in the future.


Milenkovic Joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2017 and since then has made 117 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side, scoring three goals.
