RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate has been onJurgen Klopp radar for some time, monitoring his performance for the whole season, with Manchester United eyeing to land the French under 21 center back in the summer transfer window for a sum of around £33million.
However, according to reports by Eurosport, Liverpool will have to fight off Manchester United for the youngster with Manchester united now having the highly rated center-back ‘on their radar.
Reports however state that while many consider Bailly to be part of United’s impregnable defensive pairing along with Harry Maguire, Solskjaer has instead preferably shown interest in Victor Lindelof alongside Maguire.
Bailly has just one year left on his deal, and although the club are keen to extend that, he is growing frustrated at his lack of first-team chances, with Inter Milan now monitoring the situation.
United are also considering other options in the transfer market including Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde but Konaté could be their ideal choice this summer.
With Leipzig not in a position of having to sell, any buyer will have to pay Konate’s release clause of £33m (€40m), rather than trying to negotiate a lower asking price.
