Manchester City two year suspension has been overturned by the court of Arbitration for sports(CAS) and the fine reduced.

Manchester City are now set to play in next season champions league after CAS overturned their two-year ban and are to pay €10 m in fine to UEFA.

Today the court of Arbitration lifted the 2-year suspension from European football place on the citizens.

City were suspended in February UEFA’s club financial control body (CFCB) for breaching of licencing and financial fair play.

But, after hearing the ban was overturned the fine reduced from initial €30m fine to €10m (£8.96m) after finding “most of the alleged breaches reported were either not established or time-barred”.according to CAS.

A club statement read “Whilst Manchester City and its legal advisors are yet to review the full ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS),

“The club welcomes the implications of today’s ruling as a validation of the club’s position and the body of evidence that it was able to present.

“The club wishes to thank the panel members for their diligence and the due process that they administered.”

City are now ready to compete in next season champions league after securing a second-place and a championship league spot in the premier league table, following 5-0 victory over Brighton on Sunday.

Manchester City are still in contention for this year champions league trophy as they hold a 2-1 lead over Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals.
