Man city v Real Madrid: City advance to the quarter finals

Man City v Real Madrid: Manchester City advanced to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after two Errors from Raphael Varane with 2-1 win over Real Madrid, (AGG: 4-2).

City took the lead in the 9th minutes after Gabriel Jesus capitalized on a defensive error from Raphael Varane and squared the ball to Raheem Sterling to score his 100th Manchester City goal.

Karim Benzema drew level for the Spanish champions in the 28th-minute with an assist from Rodrygo giving Zinedine Zidane’s side a glimmer of hope.

Pep Guardiola side created more chances but Thibaut Courtois who was up to the challenge saving Real on two occasions, he tipped Gabriel Jesus’s shot over the net, another followed this save from Sterling after Casemiro uncharacteristically lost the ball in the midfield.

Real Madrid awful night continued as Jesus stole the ball from a weak Raphael Varane header to restore the city’s lead and put the game beyond the visitors with Madrid needing two unanswered goals to go through.

Manchester City will now travel to Lisbon as they face Lyon in the quarter-finals after the French side knocked out Juventus to advance to the next stage.
