Liverpool vs Brighton: Liverpool title hopes dented after Shocking 1-0 loss to Brighton

Liverpool’s hopes of retaining the Premier League title had a big dent on Wednesday night when Graham Potter’s Brighton secured a surprising 1-0 victory at Anfield.

It was another lackluster display from Jurgen Klopp’s men, registering only a single shot on goal against the Seagulls, who fully deserved their victory.

A fortnight ago, the Clarets ended a 68-game winning streak and this was a similar story, as Klopp’s team dominated possession but lacked finishing.

The visitors created the best chances and the margin of victory could have been greater, but Steven Alzate seized the moment with his first Premier League goal in his 28th appearance shortly after the break.

After no shots on target from either side in the first 54 minutes, the visitors found the net on their first attempt.

Dan Burn crossed the ball into the danger area and Alzate ran towards him to make a loop into the far post to score the only goal of the game.

The defeat leaves Liverpool in fourth place and seven points behind City, who have a game in hands, while Brighton is 10 points behind the last three teams on the table.

Klopp will look forward to returning to winning ways when they host Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield on Sunday.
