Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita set for summer exit from Anfield

Naby Keita, a midfielder for Liverpool, appears to be on the verge of leaving the team at the end of current season. Additionally, according to recent sources, the player is “growing increasingly disillusioned” with Merseyside life.

According to TEAMtalk’s most recent report on the matter (via Liverpool Echo), Keita has chosen not to extend his contract with Liverpool beyond this season, which runs through June 2023. (Transfermarkt).

Naby has made 11 appearances this season in all competitions and has largely avoided injuries. Although Keita surprised himself even last season by remaining healthy for a long time, he has been incredibly prone to injuries during his career with the Reds.

The Reds’ No. 8 is out of contract this summer, as was already known, and is expected to leave the team as a free agency unless the parties reach an agreement in the upcoming months, which currently seems highly improbable.

Nevertheless, with Jude Bellingham being targeted by the Reds as well and costing no less than £130 million, removing some wages from the books might go a long way toward helping to finance Jude’s contract with the Reds.

It is imperative that the Reds release any players who do not significantly improve the club, since calls for a midfield makeover are stronger than ever. Keita moved from RB Leipzig to Liverpool in 2019 amid considerable fanfare.

Unfortunately, Keita’s time at Liverpool has stood plagued by injuries and he has been unable to consistently display his full potential. And in the games he has played, the player has been the epitome of inconsistency.
