Lionel Messi  set to face a huge fine after he failed to show up for Barcelona Coronavirus testing and training on Monday.

Barcelona Superstar Lionel Messi had last week expressed his desire to leave Nou Camp this season following a misunderstanding with the Board of the Spanish giants.

The Catalans have however denied his request to leave on free and insisting his £632m release clause remains active.

Both sides are now set for a showdown in a legal battle between the Argentine and his club as the relationship deteriorate

According to Marca, the six-time Ballond’or winner will face “serious penalties” for absconding from training on Monday.

The report says that in accordance ‘with the collective agreement of LaLiga and the Association of Spanish Footballers’, he could face financial penalties and also be suspended.

Marca says the document establishes that a ‘serious offense can be judged when a player “abandons work” for two occasions without just cause’.

The third absence would then see the offense considered ‘very serious’ which can carry a punishment of total suspension with significant pay decreases.

There can be up to 11 days of his salary being withdrawn or a fine of up to 25 percent of his monthly salary, whichever comes first.

The 33-year-old earns around £54million a year, so a quarter of his monthly salary is around £1.1million.

Messi’ father and agent Jorge Messi will meet with Barcelona before the of the week, but none of the sides seems ready to give up On their stand.
