Lille Coach Christophe Galtier has revealed that he expects Nigerian International Victor Osimhen to leave the club by the end of the season amid interest from top clubs.
Lille Coach has disclosed that he expects Osimhen to leave the league 1 club amid interest from suitors.
Osimhen is on the wish list of several top European clubs the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, after having a fantastic debut season with Les Dogues in the just-concluded French league 1 season.
The Nigerian International took the French league 1 by surprise netting 18 goals. He win the award for Lille player of the season and also included in the league team of the season alongside Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe.
Galtier said French teams find it difficult to keep their star players due to interest from big European clubs with more money than them.
He also stated that the decision to keep or sell players is not his.
“People stay focused on “they buy for X, they sell for Y. The player arrives, he stays 18 months or 12 months and then he leaves” but there is not a French club that may not sell except Paris. he told Canal Plus
“Everyone else is forced to sell and everyone else is like us. But they don’t assume it. I am in this project there, with young players who come from all walks of life and I find that it is very fulfilling.”
“If I expect Gabriel, Osimhen, or even Ikoné to leave? Yes, I integrated it. I don’t want them to leave, but they will leave.”I can’t veto a player’s departure, this is the project.”
The 21-year-old reportedly reject an Offer to join Serie A side Napoli last month as reported by sportelo.
Osimhen joined league 1 side Lille OSC from Belgian Royal Charleroi in August 2019 for a fee of €12 million euros and has a contract till 2024.
