Barcelona transfer news;

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has urged his board to make a ‘call’ over the signing of Manchester City centre back Eric Garcia this summer.

The Spaniard was keen to return to the Nou Camp last summer but Barcelona failed to meet City’s £30m asking price for the defender.

Garcia has six months to run on his deal at the Etihad and he’s free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona that would see him join the club on a free transfer at the end of the deal.

However, Koeman is keen to sign the Spaniard this month and he’s urged his board to find the funds to make the deal possible.

“I have already said what I have to say,’ said Koeman.

‘I am not the one who makes the economic decisions at the club. The club’s management has to make the call.’

City are likely to accept a much lower fee for Garcia this month,instead of allowing him leave for free.

However, a complication in Garcia’s return to the Nou Camp this month has been hindered by the  presidential election set to take place at the end of the month.

He may have to wait longer  until the final week of the transfer window before a decision is reached.
