Harry Redknapp says Jürgen Klopp would have kept Takumi Minamino in Liverpool if he had been” useful” to him.

In a surprising final breath on the deadline, Southampton secured the signing of playmaker on loan, who joined Liverpool for £7.25million in January 2019.

Minamino has only managed six minutes in the premier league since mid-December and has been looking for regular football for the first team.

And Redknapp claims Klopp would not have let him go if he had used him in a brutal assessment of Minamino’s time on Merseyside.

“Well he didn’t make it in Liverpool, did he?” said Redknapp. “If Liverpool had been interested in him, they would not have let him go.

“They wouldn’t let players out on loan if they didn’t help the squad.”

“You’re in the Champions League, you’re in everything, aren’t you? And also looking forward to winning the title again.

“If he [Klopp] felt he was of use, he would have kept him there. But his form wasn’t good, and he wasn’t looking good enough right now to be fair. “
