Liverpool vs Fulham: Klopp explains why Liverpool lost at home to Fulham

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he knew Fulham would cause problems for his team following the Reds’ 1-0 loss to Cottagers at Anfield.

 

This is the sixth straight loss at home for the Premier League champions. They are still seventh, but the teams around them have games in hand.

Klopp said Fulham are in a good moment, adding that Liverpool’s goal before half-time was a serious blow.

 

Mario Lemina’s fine shot at the end of the first half ensured that Fulham defeated Liverpool at Anfield.

 

According to the German, his players tried to score against Fulham but were unable to do so against the visitors.

 

Klopp told Sky Sports after the match “that Fulham’s goal before the break was a “massive blow” for Liverpool:

 

“Fulham will cause us problems – it’s clear. They’re in a good moment, they’re a good team. We all agree a team like this should stay in the Premier League.

“There were moments we could have had more of an impact on the game. Conceding that goal before half-time was a massive blow.

“We tried to react and the boys showed that. In the end, we don’t score goals and that’s a big problem.

 

“We never had momentum in the season. You can see it’s still in the boys. They still have it all but at the moment can’t show it. It would be a masterpiece to find out how we change that overnight.

The defeat means Liverpool are now four points behind the top four in the Premier League table.
