The 32-year-old sustained an adductor injury in Madrid 4-1 loss to Valencia a fortnight ago and he is yet to fully recover for the trip to the Estadio de la CerΓ‘mica.

Benzema was spotted carrying out light training in Madrid Friday training, in preparation for the champions league clash against Inter Milan next week Wednesday, as he was not included in the tram squad for the weekend clash.

The French man is Madrid’sΒ top scorer in the league this season, with four goals and three assists in his eight appearance for Los Blancos.

Zinedine Zidane’s side will have to make do without striker Luka Jovic having tested positive for covid-19 on Friday, after returning from International duty with Serbia.

Sergio Ramos is also out of the squad having sustained a hamstring injury in Spain’s 6-0 triumph over Germany in the UEFA Nations League.

Real Madrid currently sits fourth on the La Liga table, four points behind league leaders Real Sociedad, with a game in hand for the capital city club.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the encounter, coach Zinedine Zidane said “What we have to do is be a group,” he said. “You’re talking about the game tomorrow and on Wednesday it is important for the Champions League, but all games are important, all of them.
