Joe Willock Speaks out on Arsenal future after dream start for Newcastle United

Joe Willock

Joe Willock insists he loves life at Newcastle and will not think for a moment about his future with Arsenal during his stint at St James’ Park.

The England Under-21 international impressed during Arsenal’s Europa League group stage campaign this season, but he struggled to make an impact in the Premier League on the rare occasions that he was chosen by Mikel Arteta.

Subsequently, Willock joined Newcastle until the end of the campaign and marked his debut with a goal in the 16th minute during last week’s win over Southampton.

The 21-year-old revealed that Steve Bruce has given him leave to fill attacking positions where he is capable of doing damage in the last third and is confident that he will continue to flourish, no matter how long he remains in Newcastle.

Willock told Sky Sports: “I’m here to help the team in any way they want.  When I came in I wanted to help the team get that rhythm in midfield, travel from one area to another faster and get it to the forwards faster, get to the area, and score goals like I did, so I feel like I can add that to the team and I hope it continues.

“I’m here to prove to Newcastle United that I can play every week and affect the games and win games for them. I’m not really looking at Arsenal, when that time comes for me to decide to go back or not that will come but right now, I’m focused on Newcastle and I’m loving every minute that I’m here.”
