Chelsea are believed to consider a move for the Belgium striker their most realistic and feasible chance of landing a world-class attacker this summer.

Lukaku who netted 24 goals and set up 11 more in 36 Serie A matches in 2020-21 to help fire the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto triumph in 11 years.

However, the Italian giants are under pressure to raise around €80 million (£69 million) through player sales as the club attempt to balance their books.

Former Chelsea star, who failed to make the impression in his previous stint at the Stamford Bridge outfit, was therefore expected to be available for purchase ahead of next campaign.

According to an Italian media agency ANSA, though, that is not the case as the Italians know just how important Romelu is to the team, and no amount will make them change the board’s mind.

The Blues may therefore have to switch focus to other targets, with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski another potential high-profile option.

Meantime, Chelsea have identified Wolverhampton Wanderers and Spain winger Adama Traore as a possible target for the summer transfer window, according to recent reports.
