I May leave Manchester City if European ban is upheld says kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that he may be forced to leave the citizens if their two year ban is upheld by UEFA.

Manchester City was banned by UEFA in February this year for two seasons and fined €30 million euros for disobeying UEFA financial play rule.

The Belgian international joined City in August 2015 for a fee of €76 million euros and has been key in Pep Guardiola’s team this season, especially in the champions league 2-1 first-leg win against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

City has since appealed the ban, but De Bruyne has stated that it will be tough to stay for two years without participating in the UEFA Champions League.

The Belgian International said he is confident and now awaits the outcome of the decision.

“The club has told us that they will appeal the decision, and they are 100% convinced that they are in the right,” De Bruyne told Belgian newspaper HLN

“I have confidence in my club: if they are saying it’s true, then I believe them. We’ll wait and see what happens. Once there’s a final decision I will look at it. Two years would be long. One year is something I might be able to cope with” he added.

The 28-year-old said he plays in the best league in the world and is happy at the Etihad Stadium.

“The last few years a lot of clubs have enquired, and have asked after my future plans, but I’m very happy at Manchester City. I play for one of the best teams in the world, I play in England, in my eyes from a competitive point of view it’s the best league.”
