Arsenal saved around £12.7m in wages after clearing out a number of players in the transfer window in January.

Shkodran Mustafi Li left for Schalke on the last day, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock West Brom and Newcastle were loaned out respectively.

Mesut Ozil and Sokratis both saw their contracts canceled six months earlier.

Sead Kolasinac also went to Schalke on loan, while William Saliba moved to Nice for the rest of the season.

The greatest savings came from terminating Ozil’s contract before moving to Fenerbahce. He was on £350,000 a week.

Sokratis1, who left for Olympiacos on a free transfer, was priced at around £ 90,000 a week, according to wtfoot.com.

And Macey, who joined Hibernian, was getting about £ 10,000 a week.

That’s £450,000 a week from permanent exits. And 21 weeks before the traditional June 30th contract end, that translates to a potential saving of £9.45m.

Kolasinac costs £100,000 per week, Maitland-Niles is £35,000 and Willock is £20,000 per week, according to Spotrac.com.

That’s another £155,000 less than the £3.25 million weekly payroll through June 30th.

This adds up to a total of £12.7 million, although this figure does not take into account any comparisons made on early termination of contracts.
