There are reports of plans to ease the lockdown in France by May 11 and this has made the French government to ban all sporting activities till September.
Football was suspended on the 13th of March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The French football governing body had hoped to return to action on June 17 and conclude by July 25.
However, with the latest developments, it does not look like the games in the top two divisions will be abandoned with no promotions or relegation and spots for European competitions decided.
“The 2019-20 season of professional sports, including football, will not be able to resume. Philippe said.
“It will be possible, on sunny days, to practice an individual sporting activity outdoors, obviously respecting the rules of social distancing.
“It will not be possible, neither to practice sport in covered places, nor team or contact sports.”
Paris Saint Germain are 12 points above second-place Marseille in the French league 1, while Nimes, Amiens, and Toulouse occupy the bottom three.
The French league 2 has Lorient at the top of the table with 45 points from 28 games, closely followed by Lens with 39 points.
