Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has apologized for his role in the Gunners 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

Xhaka was trying to play from behind in the first half, but his pass from inside his own box was intercepted by Chris Wood.

The Burnley striker sent the ball home with his hip and the goal disallowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s first goal in the sixth minute.

Arsenal pushed up front after that but, despite a good penalty call and Dani Ceballos hitting the post, they had to settle for a point.

And Xhaka wrote on Instagram: “I hold my hands up for their goal and I’m sorry for the mistake.

“That’s football and right now I feel just as frustrated as all of you. #Arsenal #GX34”

Mikel Arteta later said that he was not angry with Xhaka and explained: “It is what it is. It can happen in football.

“It’s the way we play. It’s the way I want to play and we just have to know the risk and the rules.

” We have in certain areas and the type of balls that we have to play.”
