Diego Maradona has been laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Jardines de Bella Vista Cemetery on Thursday.
football legend Diego Maradona died on Wednesday after suffering a cardiac arrest in his home in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Age 60.
A large crowd took to the streets of Argentina’s capital city to Mourn and bid farewell to the football legend.
Maradona’s coffin was covered in the Argentine flag at the presidential villa where his body was laid in memory of three-day mourning, before being transported to his final resting place next to his parents.
Maradona had undergone brain surgery earlier in November for a subdural hematoma after being admitted to the hospital.
Maradona won 91 caps for Argentina between 1977 and 1994, scoring 34 goals at the international level.
He inspired the Argentine national team to win the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and went ahead to coach his country at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
His most successful club career was with Napoli where he won 2 Italian Championships, one Italian Cup and an Italian Super cup each, and a UEFA Cup in 1988/1989.
Maradona in his 21-year footballing career also played for Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Sevilla, and Newell’s Old before calling it to quit in 1997.
