Ending la Liga now would be ugly -Barcelona Pique

Barcelona Center-back Gerard Pique has stated that “it would be ugly” to end the 2019/29 La Liga season amid the COVID-19

Gerard Pique returned to training with Barcelona’s first team in almost two months’ absence from games amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As a first step towards a return for league games in Spain, a Coronavirus test was conducted across all 42 training ground across the country.

and three staff members have so far tested positive for the COVID-19. All were all asymptotic and have been isolated.

Javier Tebas had hoped that Spain’s two top divisions will return by June 12, with games played every day, while maintaining the league prudence.

The defender said he agrees with the league’s desire to conclude the ongoing season, but also noted that players need time to adjust after the long break.

“I understand La Liga’s [desire] to try and finish the season because there is a lot at play,” Pique told Movistar as reported by ESPN

“We don’t like playing without supporters, but ending the campaign without playing any more games, even though we are top, would be ugly. It makes sense what La Liga is doing.

“But we have been stopped for a long time now without being able to play friendlies. And with just one month of training, I would tell [La Liga] it wouldn’t be a bad thing to give us a few more days to avoid injuries and ensure we’re better prepared,” he concluded

Barcelona tops the la Liga table with 2 points ahead of rival Real Madrid, with 11 rounds of matches to be played, before the league was suspended.
