Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez has fired back at Alexandre Lacazette after his former Arsenal teammate took to social media to complain of a controversial flash point during the Gunners’ 1-0 loss at Villa Park.
Ollie Watkins’ early goal turned out to be the winner, as Villa triumphed at home and gave Arsenal their second Premier League loss in five days.
The result could have been very different if Arsenal had received a penalty in the second half when Lacazette and former Gunners goalkeeper Martinez were embroiled in a fight in the area in the 57th minute.
On social media after the game, Lacazette wrote, “Other,” while lamenting that another decision was not in his favor.
However, his former teammate Martinez clearly disagreed that Arsenal should have received a penalty, and responded with the reply: “You were pushing me, first brother.”
