Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has addressed speculation that he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season by insisting that he is “proud” to wear the club’s jersey.

Reports in Argentina on Monday claimed that the Uruguayan was considering moving to Boca Juniors this summer, as he had struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford.

Cavani has proven to be a success at the Theater of Dreams and United are eager to extend his stay at the club for a further 12 months, but needs the forward’s agreement to activate a one-year extension clause.

The News of Cavani not been happy at Old Trafford was confirmed by the forward’s father on Tuesday, as the former Paris Saint-Germain striker was revealed to be unhappy with the treatment he received from the Football Association, when he was suspended for an ill-Judged social media post earlier this season.

“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again,’ Luis Cavani said.

“Edinson is going to end up playing in South America.

” I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

“Edinson had many conversations with Juan Roman Riquelme (Boca vice-president) and he would like to play for Boca.”

However, Cavani has numbed rumors that he might be ready for an Old Trafford outing.

It remains to be seen if United can convince the former Napoli forward to stay at the club, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is certainly willing to do so.
