Kevin De Bruyne wins the PFA player of the year award

Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne has becomes the first player from the club to win the PFA player of the year award.

Kevin De Bruyne has been named the Professional football Association player of the year ahead of Liverpool players despite City finishing behinds Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 2019/20 season.

The 29-year-old who won the premier league player of the season was picked ahead of four of Liverpool’s players including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and last year’s winner Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool Alexander-Arnold picked up the price for the PFA player of the year.

Speaking after being presented with the award the City midfielder said
“β€œIt’s a huge honour,” he said. “To be voted for by your colleagues and competitors from other teams who you play against and then for you for best player is amazing.

“It’s strange that I’m the first one at City given all the good players that have played here before and who are still playing here but it’s nice to represent the club.

“I think it is [the ultimate honour to be nominated by fellow professionalsb season.”

De Bruyne finished the season with 13 goals and recorded the highest number of assists( 20) in a premier league season matching the record set by Arsenal legend Theirry Henry in the 2002-03 campaign.
