The Gunners took the lead in the first half thanks to a good solo goal from Nicolas Pepe.

However, it was downhill from there. Luiz was sent off for a last-man tackle in the closing minutes of the first half and a penalty was awarded.

Ruben Neves stepped forward to make equalise for Nuno Espirato’s men.Moutinho’s 30-yard stunning goal sealed a 2-1 victory for the host.

Things went from bad to worse as  Leno was sent off for handling the ball outside the box, when he ran off his line to stop an attack.

The defeat ended Arsenal’s seven-game unbeaten streak and dampened their attempts to catch the Premier League’s top five, leaving them adrift four points.

Terry replied and wrote on social media: “Never a red card!  Double jeopardy. “

In response to a disagreeing comment with him, he added: “Anyone who has played the game can see that David never tries to play the ball !!!

“In fact, he is withdrawing from the challenge, which means a penalty but not a red card.

“Obviously you don’t play, and also check the rules yourself.”
