Chelsea's €40m flop could move to Spain this summer 1 Sportelo

Atletico Madrid will reportedly be making a few changes in their squad to try and ensure they can win the Laliga title next season.

However, Lucas Torreira will be returning to the Emirates after being loaned out by Arsenal, meaning the La Liga side need to replace the South American, and the man they have in mind, according to a report by Foot Mercato, is Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Blues midfielder spent last term on loan at Napoli under Gennaro Gattuso, and while Bakayoko started the whole thing strongly, it all went downhill in the second half of the campaign.

That, and the fact the club have moved on with Luciano Spalletti as their coach, means he won’t be bought and will return to Stamford Bridge.

Foot Mercato explain Los Rojiblancos are ‘closely following’ the star’s situation, with Natalia Simeone, Diego’s sister and entourage, trying to help in the deal.

Whether this is for a loan or a full transfer is not said, but if it were for the former, some kind of contract extension with the Blues would need to be worked out for Tiemoue, as his current deal with Chelsea expires in 2022.
