Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud was on target for France twice in their UEFA nations league match victory against Sweden sending a reminder to Chelsea boss Frank Lampard about his goalscoring form.

Olivier Giroud scored a brace for Didier Claude Deschamps’s side in their 4-2 victory over Sweden on Tuesday, in the UEFA Nations League, this is sending a strong message to Frank Lampard.

The 34-year-old netted his 43rd and 44th goal for the French national team and now within seven goals of legend Thierry Henry who has 51 goals for the Les Bleus.

A first-half goal from Giroud leveled the game for France after going behind earlier and a well-taken header goal assisted by kylian Mbappe.

Giroud brace comes after rumors of his exit from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, according to French outlet TelefootCChaine.

The former Arsenal striker has fallen in the pecking order behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham, having featured only 3 times as a substitute in the premier league for Frank Lampard’s side this season.

France coach Didier Deschamps urged the striker to change the situation at his club before the next international break in March.

“Olivier Giroud knows it – the situation he’s in today cannot drag on forever. Before March he will have to find another situation than this one,’ Deschamps told French radio station RTL.

“I never give advice, I give an opinion. At the end of the day, it’s the player’s decision. He has had situations that have sometimes been complicated to deal with.

“Today, it is not good for him. Will it stay the same or will it improve? It’s up to him. He knows what I think, even if I don’t forget everything he has done and everything he would still be able to do.”
