Chelsea are yet to dip into the transfer market this summer but are keen on strengthening their squad in the middle of the pitch as they look to improve on last term’s 4th-placed finish in the top flight.

Declan was linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge when club legend Frank Lampard was in charge, but interest appeared to cool when the German boss Thomas Tuchel took over in January.

However, The Mirror now claims that the UEFA Champions League winners are ready to rekindle their interest in a deal once more.

The midfielder has started all six of his country’s games at Euro 2020 so far, after making 35 appearances for the Hammers last season, scoring twice.

Fabrizio Romano said on Twitch: β€œAt the moment, Chelsea’s priority in midfield is Declan Rice. If they will sign a midfielder, Declan Rice will be one of the biggest possibilities.

β€œThen, they have to find an agreement with West Ham, and it won’t be easy because West Ham are asking for a lot of money for him.”

Declan was previously in the Blues’ academy but was released at the age of 14 when Rice made the switch to the Hammers.
