Chelsea ready  world-record fee for Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

Chelsea are preparing a huge £150 million offer for Erling Haaland and believe Borussia Dortmund might find it difficult to turn it down.

The European champions are set to offer Borussia Dortmund up to £150 million for star forward Erling Haaland according to 90mins.

The reported offer could be the result of lengthy talks between Chelsea and Dortmund in recent weeks, and it is believed that the German side could accept the proposal.

Erling Haaland’s name has been included in the combination of Chelsea’s strikers’ goals for some time now. The Norwegian is an expensive prospect, and only Chelsea and a handful of others are able to strike a deal for him in today’s market, where finances have been drastically affected by the pandemic.

However, in recent weeks it has become clear that the Blues could probably be the only club that can afford Haaland, especially in light of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s comments on affordability.

Chelsea are considering Haaland, not just for the reputation he carries, but as a long-term solution up-front.

The west Londoners did spend upwards of £120 million on Kai Havertz and Timo Werner last summer but are ready to make room for Haaland as Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham are expected to leave the club.

Giroud is attracting interest from AC Milan while Abraham has plenty of suitors from England and abroad. And, without a doubt, Haaland would be an instant upgrade on the current forwards, giving Chelsea a new dimension in their hunt for the Premier League and defence of the Champions League next season.

Roman Abramovich had been involved in talks with Dortmund in recent weeks for Haaland. The owner of the Blues is personally interested in this transfer going through and therefore he is willing to pay huge transfer fees now. Haaland will have a £ 64 million buyout clause next summer, but the reigning European champions don’t want to wait.

Waiting until next year would invite plenty of other teams to race for the Norwegian, and Chelsea wouldn’t want that considering Haaland could easily move to Barcelona or Real Madrid. Additionally, the Blues could also structure transfer fees now instead of paying the full release clause next summer.

Chelsea are willing to go the distance if need be, but will look to negotiate with Dortmund for a fee of around £135m in a bid to comply with financial fair play. Apart from the transfer fee the wages of the Norwegian would be massive. But the Blues are willing to pay what is necessary to seal the deal.

The addition of Erling Haaland to Thomas Tuchel side will make Chelsea a frightening side next season following his goal-scoring records in Austria and Germany
