Chelsea have been convinced to include their star forward in a new Haaland deal.
Chelsea are keen to bring the Norway international to Stamford bridge and are willing to sacrifice Timo Werner to be able to land Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel has identified the young striker as the one to lead his attack in the coming season with the hope of closing the gap with Man City for the Premier League.
However, the Blues are doing all they can to lure Borussia Dortmund into accepting an offer for Erling Haaland, hence they are reportedly willing to offer Timo Werner as part of a deal that will land the astonishing goal scorer.
The asking price for the Norwegian attacker is around £150million but Borussia Dortmund are not willing to let go of their star man.
Speaking on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window podcast, Ian McGarry says Chelsea have attempted to use Werner as part of the deal to bring down the cash payment because of his poor first season at Stamford Bridge following his arrival from RB Leipzig.
McGarry said: “It is our understanding that Timo Werner was offered as part of a deal for Haaland, therefore obviously negating part of the fee in terms of the quite substantial amount Dortmund are quoting for Haaland, in excess of €150m at this point.
“I’m told that Werner, unlike [Kai] Havertz, has not adapted well to life in England.
“He has not assimilated himself necessarily very well, he’s quite an introverted character, Havertz is quite extrovert. It just hasn’t happened for him.”
However, it will take a lot for Borussia Dortmud to be convinced about selling 21-year-old, especially as the player is not keen on a move.
