Champions League: PSG leaves it late to stun Atalanta

Atalanta 1-2 PSG: A late Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s goal secured the victory as Paris Saint Germain bounced back to defeat Atalanta.

The League 1 champions Paris Saint Germain, fought back from a goal down to go through to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 25 years.

Thomas Tunchel side went into the clash as favourite and should have taken the lead early in the first half through Neymar.The Brazilian superstar was put through on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat, but squandered the chance.


Pasalic in the 26th minute gave Atalanta the lead with a curled left-footed shot into the top corner of the net.

Atalanta took the lead into the halftime.
The French champions came back from the break firing from all cylinders with no goal for the effort.

The pressure from the PSG finally paid off late as Marquinhos tapped in a cross from Neymar to level the game.

However, there was more drama as Paris Saint Germain snatched the victory in added time with a 93rd minute Eric Maxim Choupo- Moting goal. Neymar’s brilliant ball found Mbappe who then squared for Choupo Moting to fire home into the net.


Atalanta fairy tale comes to an end having had a brilliant 2019/20 season in Europe and Serie A. PSG will tackle either RB Leipzig or Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Jose Alvalade for a place in the final.
