Tonight’s champions league will see Chelsea host Bayern Munich of Germany in the knockout phase of Europe’s elite competition (21:00) at Stamford bridge.
Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich in the champions league final at the Allianz Arena, winning 5-4 on a penalty shootout.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was in the team that conquered Bayern Munich eight years ago in the Finals. Tonight the Blues manager will lead his team as they host Bayern at the Stamford bridge in the UCL first leg of the round of 16.
The blues have been eliminated in each of their last four champions league home/away ties. Failing to win any of their eight knockout games in that period, they have drawn four and lost four of those games.
The other game of the night will see Napoli face Fc Barcelona at the Stadio san paolo. Barcelona have not won a game in Italy since April 2006 against Ac Milan.
This will be Quique Setien’s first game in the champions league since he took charge as Fc Barcelona coach, so much is expected from their star player Lionel Messi who scored four goals against CD Eibar in the Spanish laliga.
Gennaro Gattuso’s side will need to be at their best as they face the Spanish champions.
