Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has joined Barcelona on a free transfer as confirmed by the club.

The 32-year-old after undergoing medicals at the Camp Nou on Monday signed a two-year contract with the Blaugrana.

He made his final appearance for City coming on the 13th minute before the final whistle in their 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona moved for Agüero following City’s decision to let the forward go at the end of his contract, ending his ten trophy-laden years at Manchester.

Ronald Koeman’s men were able to achieve success in the Copa del Rey but fell short in the Champions League and La Liga, with Atlético finally clinching their first title since the 2013/14 season.

Barca will be hoping Aguero can have a similar impact next season, despite the Argentine struggling to maintain form and fitness during his last campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero will team up with his international teammate and close friend Messi at the Camp Nou, and they are expected to establish a strong partnership as the Blaugrana aim to return to the elite level on both the national and European fronts.
